Our first 10 million a year customers spent much time on IoT!

" we are building the platform for the Internet of Everything with scale and security to address the unparalleled complex the requirements"
OH INTELLI!!!!!!!!!

"Meraki, continues to perform very well growing over 100% year-over-year and more than doubling customers from 4,300 one quarter ago to 9,600 in this quarter, due largely to the power of the Cisco channel. Approximately one-third of Meraki's business is deferred."

"Security revenue grew 17% with particular strength in network security up 21% and content security up 5%. We are seeing orders grow significantly faster than revenue up 30% this quarter as we continue to shift toward more recurring revenue models in this business."

"We capitalize on the major market transitions, we partner with our customers to deliver innovation and solutions that fuel their business. In our view this next wave of the Internet, the Internet of Everything will encompass every technology transition we are seeing in the market today.

With the network squarely at the center, we are building the platform for the Internet of Everything with scale and security to address the unparalleled complex the requirements. We plan to continue to disrupt the market and disrupt ourselves to deliver the value and solutions our customers require.

Last year, we introduced entirely new approaches to networking, designed around future proofing the best customers are making today and enabling them to harness the benefit of Internet of Everything.

As we capitalize on these transitions, I would like to summarize the dynamics of our business in the following five points. First, the Internet of Everything has moved from an interesting concept to a business imperative driving opportunities across every major vertical. It was the central conversations at the Consumer Electronics Show and the World Economic Forum, the last couple months with CEOs, industry and country leaders globally. Anyone walking away from these events should characterize this year as the tipping point."

Insider transactions, direction of IoT, all wonderful stuff... but the news that's going to contribute mightily to our goal in Q3 and beyond, is Meraki " more than doubling customers from 4,300 one quarter ago to 9,600 in this quarter, due largely to the power of the Cisco channel."

The one constant in our portfolio of customers is moving our products hard! and as others join the party, hell! we just might blow the lid off these next 3 quarters. I've mumbled before that Cisco gives our products legitimacy, makes the going much easier for our sales team...

In the past, board members talked about Vitesse needing a 25 to 50 million a year customer. This time next year I expect references to a few more 10 million a year customers, all triggered from the Cisco association.

"In the fourth quarter, Cisco's Internet security sector revenue grew 17% compared with the same period last year."
Vitesse is probably offering others to help theirs grow too...

That was one man's opinion.

Margin Focus Important In An Uncertain Environment
We are also encouraged by the company's intent to defend margins in this tough macro environment with an increased focus on software and services. Cisco's service revenues as a percentage of product sales has been growing steadily over the last few years, increasing from around 24% in 2010 to about 29% in 2013. We expect this trend to continue going forward, as the company leverages its recent acquisitions of NDS, Meraki, Intucell and Collaborate to improve its mobility and cloud service offerings. The increasing business mix of services should not only help Cisco prepare for uncertain conditions by bringing in steady and recurring revenues but also contribute to its bottom line growth. We estimate that Cisco's non-product gross margins are about 6% higher than its traditional product solutions, and an increased revenue contribution from software and services should help the company defend its overall margins better. At the same time, it is moving its commoditized set-top box video business to the cloud instead of pursuing low-profit deals. While this has caused set-top box sales to decline, Cisco is looking to run the business for profit and not growth.

This quite really sums up the the value that Intellisec is and brings to Vitesse. My friends we have hit the jackpot with this product.

“Encryption may not have been at the forefront of discussions, as EMV was,” he said. “Now they’re asking about both.”

"The 2nd quarter is usually up for carrier routers and switches, but this one is exceptional given the sluggishness of the past few years. Every major geographical region except Japan notched double-digit sequential growth and, more important, gained from the year-ago quarter," reports Michael Howard, principal analyst for carrier networks and co-founder of Infonetics Research.

With vacation from Chinese new year out of the way I expect strong Q2 from Vitesse.

Bits& pieces from HP

Whitman also said HP is planning new product offerings to fuel its turnaround effort.
"We are not taking our foot off the pedal," she said. "Over the next few quarters, we will introduce significant new innovations that will build upon our offerings in cloud, security, Big Data and converged infrastructure, as well some remarkable new technologies in printing and personal systems."

"Software revenue declined 3.7% over the prior year period to $916 million although we saw continued growth in key areas such as SaaS, Vertica and security and gained traction in our innovative big data platform,"

"SaaS revenue grew 6% over prior year period as we see continued momentum."

"Finally in software, we expect to see continued traction in key growth areas like big data while we invest in disruptive technologies like cadence HAVEn and security and manage our portfolio transition to SaaS."

Meg responds to a question:
"With regard to acquisitions, we stand by where we were at our Security Analyst Meeting last October that we will return at least 50% of our free cash flow to shareholders in terms of repurchase of shares and dividends, but I do think we will be now considering acquisitions.

As this market changes very dramatically, you can see that we may need acquisitions in security, Big Data, mobility and cloud. We will be very judicious. It will be returns based, and I would say it would be small to medium-sized acquisitions, so that's where we are headed, but the capital allocation strategy that we laid out at SAM, exactly the same."

I would really like to know how VTSS' ViSSA architecture compares to AMCC (not very well), or even INTC (?)

BRCM is still in the starting gate. With any luck at all, VTSS will develop a product line that some cash-rich larger semi-maker will pay a bunch for.

The share price seems to be up today, but on low volume. No news is no news, I guess.

Driving growth in 2014 and beyond will be wireless and the Internet of Things

I look for Cisco to turn to the Internet of Things as its next major business opportunity. Cisco is investing heavily in providing solutions to customers. It anticipates a business opportunity worth $2 billion from 50 targets customers.

And another promising area is in cloud and networking computing, which includes its platform, Meraki. This platform doubled revenues last quarter, as well as its number of customers.

AT&T adds LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation to Chicago

BUT,

" it will be a little while before many customers can take advantage of the upgraded network ".

yeah, the upgrade will most likely be ready around 2015 & 2016

"AT&T only has one device that can support carrier aggregation, its Unite hotspot, which it launched late last year. However, Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S5 smartphone can support carrier aggregation."

Love this explanation,

hil: Carriers are going to be pushing LTE Carrier Aggregation as a speed and capacity increase as you indicated but it will be negligible on both parts. The best way I have found to describe LTE Carrier Aggregation is to think of each LTE channel as a lane on the freeway. Without LTE Carrier Aggregation, a phone is limited to the speed and capacity of the lane that it is in. Carrier Aggregation allows the phone to scan multiple lanes (two lanes right now) and switch lanes if traffic is moving faster in the other lane. Carrier Aggregation doesn't let the carrier offer more peak throughput (speed) than the sum of the individual channels. You just have the opportunity to increase your speed by moving out of the slow lane if a faster lane is available. It should also be highlighted that this is another feature that only is effective when it is deployed in the network and available in the handset. So Kris Rhine is correct that "we really aren't changing the speed discussion".

the third quarter with projected "break even " results should be the start of a positive Vitesse story. third quarter is also supposed to be the first quarter of significant revenue increase.

we still have quarter two with projected revenue between $25M- $27.5M. if we see anything over $27.5M the positive Vitesse story begins early.

we all know this already so sit back and stop dwelling on anything, everything negative. expecting the shareprice to keep shooting to outer space on a continuous basis is the last thing we need. establishing a solid base is the way to go.

GARIF,

"ZTE's financial performance will benefit from the company's focus on profitability, improved profit margins in international operations and the growth of revenue from sales of 4G infrastructure systems in China."

"Looking ahead to the next reporting period, demand for broadband networks, especially mobile broadband based on 3G and 4G technologies will continue to drive investment in the global telecommunications industry."

FINALLY!!! , For once, the proof that we all have been waiting for, we are finally able to see the beginning of what our CEO has been expecting year after year. results like this have not happened during the last ten years, with Vitesse connected to them.

as long as there is a demand for product, Vitesse across the board take in market share will allow revenue to grow substantially.

"Bookings increased over 25% sequentially in Q1, to a level above the high end of our original revenue guidance. Thus, our book-to-bill ratio improved significantly, even though Q1 is typically a seasonally weaker quarter for bookings."

"We are delighted to see this early strength in bookings for IP-20 products, which represented over 40% of bookings in Q1, compared to only 15% in the fourth quarter of 2013," Palti continued. "We have been ramping production as quickly as possible to meet the demand."

Vitesse provides ZTE and Fiberhome with a ton of GPON stuff! I'am seeing a strong Q2 shaping up friends.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/zte-wins-orders-china-mobile-032400757.html

"According to the latest report on the global fixed-network market by Ovum, ZTE’s GPON equipment shipments in the fourth quarter rose 27% sequentially, the fastest growth rate among major vendors, benefiting from demand in the Americas, Europe and China. ZTE is committed to maintain the company’s industry-leadership in the global GPON market by offering first-rate products and superior services."

"In 2013, wireless revenue grew 31%, bolstered by the strength of Cisco’s broad portfolio, including the successful integration of the cloud networking company Meraki, which was acquired last year for $1.2 billion. Cisco said Meraki saw 100% year-over-year growth and more than doubled customers, from 4,300 in the previous quarter to 9,600, in the fiscal second quarter of 2014."

The above (X2) story explains how AT&T is going to offer a package that generates broadband speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second.

The package their are speaking about is called "AT&T U-verse" with Gigapower(SM) service.

competition for Vitesse?

It would be interesting to see whose equipment AT&T is buying in this particular case (I would be surprised if they made their own).

Given their links to ALU (Bell Labs), I would also be surprised if it was not ALU, but I don't know for sure.

Even if it is buying from someone with no ties to VTSS, the competitive pressure forces everyone to buy...who wants to be left behind in the build-out?

From the ALU 2013 annual report:

"Our ten largest customers accounted for 51% of our revenues in 2013 (among which Verizon, AT&T and Sprint represented 12%, 11% and 10% of our revenues, respectively), and most of our revenues come from telecommunications service providers."

Also, it seems that ATT is expecting greatly expanded bandwidth requirements:

. "Based on our incumbency with dozens of telecom OEMs, VeriTime is quickly becoming the de facto solution in mobile networks."

VeriT is becoming the only game in town ! we will hear more about this in a few days.

Wow- Sounds like a slam dunk that VTSS will announce great earnings & Revs next week. We should all load up on the stock- RIGHT?

If VTSS can turn its claims (design wins) into reality (revenues), then the market will reward us. Until then, VTSS is one more unproven start-up. I like what I see so far, but I can remember liking what I saw once in the past too (!) and being gravely disappointed, but let's keep open minds. Anything over projections, and the re-assertion of projections going forward, would be a good thing in my judgement.

You're right phobos- even if the numbers aren't great, if we can just get CRG to spin things positively with forward projections, hopefully the market will reward us or at least not punish us.

All they have to do is hit their projected numbers ($26M+), which were not great, but at least builds credibility. This makes the next prediction (break-even), that much more credible.

A miss would not be good.

VTSS named in the article (scroll down for list of companies) below as among those to benefit from wireless backhaul rollout.

When service providers see increased revenues, it makes the case for capital spending, which buoys equipment makers, who buy chips from companies like VTTS:

Phobos, you doing some serious homework my friend THANKS!
Notice how many of the companies mentioned are Vitesse customers.

"The market is booming, and in the near future it will present momentous potential opportunity to various mobile operators, backhaul equipment vendors, and service providers."

"Best way to offer 5x9s? MSFT builds multiple less expensive “three nines” datacenter sites and links them together for high availability vs. building one expensive “five nines” datacenter (this ensures no single-point of failure and keeps costs in check)."

I am jumping around here but remember the excitement of cgr over a new customer which has adopted INTELLISEC??
The above confirms my suspicion that Microsoft is a Vitesse customer.

YES, YES, YES!!!!

Wonderful projects happening all over the globe yet Q after Q we hear from our fearless leader- wait till next call and the next...

Christ, your perception of the recent transcripts sounds fine and very futuristic but the fact remains there is not enough money coming into the account; Vitesse experiences every accident possible, China having a party, protracted qualifications, bla bla,,,, yet projects are coming to life on a global basis, phobos just posted evidence of this.

"Credibility refers to the objective and subjective components of the believability of a source or message."

Are the design wins real? since they are the key to future earnings, or are the boys using some of the old creative stuff??
Now we're told it might take longer to see real money from the 2012 wins etc, etc. Will it take 2 more years to start seeing a dime from INTELLISEC??

It might be time to bring in a new captain, one who was never associated with our shady past; all to refresh CREDIBILITY.

Peace

From the Q2 CC " At the beginning of the year we set a target of reaching non-GAAP profitability in Q3 - and we still expect to be at or near that target "

Financially, I do not see much of a difference going on than was previously mentioned.

GARIF,
you stated: " but the fact remains there is not enough money coming into the account "

into the account for what?

Vitesse Net cash Q1 $48,355 M
Net cash Q2 (presently) $48,201M
Debentures total due Oct. 2014 $32,843 M
there will be plenty of cash to keep debt current

GARIF,
I believe that you were the only one who was doing all the talking about how well Vitesse would soon be doing financially.

" with vacation from Chinese new year out of the way I expect strong Q2 from Vitesse "
