One month ago "Zack", whoever that is, posted an idiotic article
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/vitesse-semiconductor-vtss-moving-average-130139139.html
warning about VTSS based upon certain select fundamental and technical metrics and without knowing one thing about the company or what they do.
Here is VTSS' share price appreciation since:

This morning the idiots at "Zacks" are sand-bagging again.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/vitesse-vtss-enters-overbought-territory-134815968.html
My conclusion is that the share price can only go up given "Zacks" proven record of contrary indication.
Why does Zacks go around making pronouncements about that which they obviously know nothing? Are they just stupid, or is there more to it?
Unbelievable!

I agree. These guys continually come out with commentaries not related to the business fundamentals. They track a number of stocks in my portfolio and I find them to be without substance. I've yet to see a report from them that actually includes the business and market fundamentals to support their position. Sad that anyone with a "soapbox" can stand up and make statements without being held accountable.

You would think Pac that Zacks being such obvious flaming idiots would be bad for business, which is why I asked if there could be more to it that that, but, to paraphrase an old saying, "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the average investor."

Just look at the CNQR PR today as an example as to how off target Zack's can be and what nay sayers they are.... I take their reports with a pinch of salt...waste of time in my books.
Concur Technologies, Inc. (CNQR) was a big mover last session, as the company saw its shares rise nearly 18% on the day. The move came on solid volume too with far more shares changing hands than in a normal session. This continues the recent uptrend for the company — as the stock is now up nearly 28% since Aug 28, 2014.
The company has seen no estimate revisions in the past 30 days, while its Zacks Consensus Estimate moved lower over the same time frame, suggesting trouble down the road. So make sure to keep an eye on this stock going forward to see if this recent move higher can last.
Concur currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) while its Earnings ESP is negative.

The idiots at Zacks (who is Zack anyway?) make another baseless claim, albeit one I agree with this time.
Vitesse Semiconductor (VTSS) Looks Good: Stock Up 8.1%
January 07, 2015

Is there any doubt that they just scour the market for biggest movers that day and use it as a basis for irrelevant claims? Pity the investor that uses this service to invest their hard-won cash.

" The recent price action is encouraging though, so make sure to keep a close watch on this firm in the near future."
They may have finally gotten it right with Vitesse!!

Should it be illegal to yell "fire" in a crowded theater? Of course vtss will not confirm guidance. This is a drop sparked by a confederacy of dunces.

Northland Securities says $6 same day.
https://www.flashratings.com/stories/145141
January 13 (FlashRatings.com) - Analysts at Northland Securities maintain their "outperform" rating for Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (VTSS). The target price is raised from $5 to $6.
Northland Securities notes, "We came away from CES more confident in our long term outlook for Vitesse given the ubiquity of new companies and products involved in the Internet of Things."

In fact Northland is very bullish on VTSS:

No explanation from Zits why the severe downgrade.

It's amazing the divergent ratings from different firm's analysts assuming no vested interest in stock price except to say we were smart & right. I think it's obviously not an exact science and someone would deserve a medal if they can figure out what CRG and the gang are doing.

" I think it's obviously not an exact science and someone would deserve a medal if they can figure out what CRG and the gang are doing."
Perhaps the LONE exact science in this racket is the "Technical approach"??
Perhaps all other possible indicators of a companies possibilities should be laid next to King Tut...
Doesn't Northland have a vested interest in Vitesse??
Thanks to my due Dilligence I agree fully with Northland about,
"We came away from CES more confident in our long term outlook for Vitesse given the ubiquity of new companies and products involved in the Internet of Things."

Looks like after hour someone could not believe his/her luck to feast for less...
This time next year many will slap themselves for having procrastinated on this little Gold mine to be ... I will be here(baring an early departure to never return land) to say I TOLD YOU SO!!! I expect this puppy to at least have doubled by this time NEXT YEAR(closed $3.80 today 2015)
Useless

On the flash ratings site, the rating is lowered to neutral, but on the Zits site it's rated a "sell". If I were a subscriber to Zits, I would be pretty angry. If this is a mistake, then I think Zits owes vtss' shareholders some money (are the ambulance chasers listening)?
Posted by phobos - 11 years ago
I don't know why all the up roar about Zacks opinion, when I visited the site my first impression was this,
"Company Summary
Vitesse Semiconductor is a supplier of high-performance integrated circuits targeted at systems manufacturers in the communications and automatic test equipment markets. The company's major customers include Cisco, Fujitsu, IBM, LTX, Lucent, Schlumberger, Seagate, Tellabs and Sun Microsystems.
Full Company Report for VTSS"
There was nothing else for me to consider from such an outfit.

Zucks rating downgrade came after a positive comment from Zucks and sent vtss shares plunging about $0.44, for a loss of almost $30M in market capital over the previous two days. Those idiots are dangerous. It seems that their idiocy has been exposed though, and vtss' share price has returned to increasing in value, although what was lost has not yet been completely recovered. Their ratings may as well be determined by the "infinite improbability drive" from the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
GARIF: Sun Microsystems was bought by Oracle years ago. It no longer exists as a separate concern. The people at Zucks are idiots. I rest my case.

The "Technical Approach" is by no means the only way to make investment decisions, but should be factored in because of such a wide following. Fundamentals should also be looked at especially on the part of "investors" not traders.
The " No vested interest except to be smart & right" comment meant no hanky panky such as being in cahoots with short-sellers and big traders and Northland's effort to influence stock price.

My very point phobos! any outfit that doesn't bother to update a companies history probably has not done much homework thus their opinion should matter very little.
Seagate as a customer! this was 20 years ago during our Arsenide days!!!!
Tech, Ichiro Suzuki was once asked what it took to be/become a great player, he responded, I am paraphrasing,
Removing dirt from cleats regularly and always having dry tee shirts handy after workouts/games, were very important part of the whole as one worked to perfect his game.
So yes I agree that using all the tools available can often help one make better decisions.
