It sure would be nice to get a DaWiley1 analysis of MSCC.

How about a technical analysis from Tech?

I wish this could turn into the MSCC board, but it looks like everyone one is gone unless they're just lurking like me.

I moved my VTSS holdings into MSCC since I had no other post-VTSS plan. Did anyone else do the same. My cost basis is about $35.

It looks like all the SEMIs are consolidating. It would be nice if MSCC got bought for $45-50.

VTSS is only 10% of MSCC, but maybe with Gardner out (is he?) that product line will grow and have an impact.

uwave1- I'm still lurking like you. Not really following MSCC but here's a chart and info on them that shows they're up against some short term resistance in $ 36 area but above 20, 50, & 200 day MAs (bullish).

I've been doing some trading in A.M. Castle (CAS) which is in the plastics business and a beaten down stock, because Billy Martin (Raging Capital) is invested and has placed 2 people on Board. I'm hoping VTSS takeover history repeats itself in CAS.

I followed phobos idea bought some AMCC, up almost 7% since i bought (thank you phobos). Used just a portion of the VTSS funds to nibble, still looking for ideas, but in no rush to just throw is at something random.

Tech-Thank you! it looks like it's breaking through($36.39).
Following Billy martin might not be a bad idea, but it may take a year of ups and downs before he flips it. With all the recent semi mergers I'm thinking (hoping) it could happen to MSCC. If it does I'm liquidating quickly after learning my lesson with VTSS. BRCM is a couple bucks over the offer with all the lawsuits starting. MSCC over $36.50 now!

This board is probably why I stayed in VTSS for over 10 years (should I be mad?!!). I will really hate to see it go.

Yes, I too lurk here (old habits die hard).

My thinking behind AMCC was that it is a small company (the smallest now that VTSS is gone), and now that the wave of consolidation has finally begun, might be next in line to be acquired by someone for their already existing first mover ARM-based processor solutions for the network. What sealed the deal for me was when I read the following story:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/kingdom-ridge-capital-founder-christopher-213258772.html

Zepf is a "Billy Martin" character; a money guy who you appoint to the board when you are thinking about M&A activity. AMCC shares spiked on the news. The last earnings call, although still negative, saw AMCC beat analyst estimates by $0.02. Earnings would not matter to potential suitors, all the overhead would be gone and you could just count the additional cash flow from new products with minimal additional costs (price to sales is a better metric here), and those resources acquired at much lower risk than with any in-house R&D effort. If AMCC gets acquired, investors get more money sooner, if not, then they seem to have a viable product line and no debt.

Buying MSCC I think is a good move too. They understand how to grow through acquisition, which is how it's done, as near as I can tell, and they were able to see the value in the strategic acquisition of VTSS' technology. When thinking it through, I just thought that it seemed very likely that AMCC might be on the block sooner rather than later, and a more valuable from a time-dependent point of view. I do not think buying MSCC is a bad move. Quite the contrary...

Best of luck all!

Someone likes it today so far, most of the semis are down, but AMCC is percolating,

phobos thanks for the idea, appreciate the sharing of ideas.

At full days average volume at 10:30, that seems like a strong indicator.

Already made money on AMCC- thanks phobos. Another chip stock to consider might be Marvell (MRVL), especially in light of M & A activity in chip sector. Also get paid 1.7 % dividend while waiting.
